Could not have asked for better with our tour guide. He was a fantastic story teller and could not have done any better bringing the city to life. After this tour ended we walked to a restaurant our Concierge recommended for Pizza. I had read much about Gritty Naples but I did not concur with what I had read.

I had planned to get off at St. Marks Square on the return but it started raining pretty hard so we went back to the ship. It served a purpose for free so I couldn’t complain. Had I actually spent $49 pp on this it would have been a waste of $49 pp. We have also spent time in Venice in the past so had no burning desire to see all there was to see here.

Land Vacations
We booked the Venice hoho with Leonardo Da Vinci Museum. We did not have a terrible time but there are much better ways to see Venice. I had read reviews of this excursion prior to sailing so my expectations were tempered. We took the boat to Murano, got off, walked around the island and had lunch and then took the boat back to the port.

If only I could afford this type of travel regularly! We ended up at the Argentina Residence near the Pantheon. Pretty much walking distance to everything. Clean, a nice quiet room, comfortable bed, great staff and really good breakfast. The hotel set up pickup at the airport and also a ride to the ship on embarkation day. 50 euro for someone waiting at the airport with a sign was money well spent.

Alternatively, simply find a patch of white sand and spend the day relaxing by the sea, maybe ambling to the closest taverna for a beer when the mood hits.
Or choose to take a gourmet tour of the Chianti Region and San Gimignano which includes a visit to a winery for a tasting. Split, Croatia is another port that has a bustling town right at the cruise ship port. You can stop at a restaurant or walk through the old walled part of the city very easily without a tour.
Just like Norwegian Prima, the new vessel will provide guests with elevated experiences including more wide-open spaces, incredible design and exceptional service. For food enthusiasts, a culinary tour through Lungotevere, one of Rome's oldest sections, is a must. Enjoy visiting markets, pizza bakeries, chocolate shops, and a coffee shop where the water traces its source to an ancient aqueduct.
